Antique ceramics 'prove popular with US audiences'

A selection of antique ceramics recently comprised part of an event in the United States.

Ceramics & Porcelain

Antique ceramics are a popular choice with many people this year, judging by details of one recent event across the Atlantic.

The Bed ford Spring Antiques Show gave onlookers the chance to feast their eyes on some historic artefacts, as reported by Antiques and the Arts Online.

It featured a 1790 New York one-gallon ovoid jar, while other examples of pottery - such as a two-gallon Norton rabbit jug from the nineteenth century - gave visitors plenty to talk about. A series of original European advertising posters were also on display, with one customer buying the framed masthead of a Danish newspaper for a special present.

Antique furniture from Sweden also attracted the interest of those in attendance. Meanwhile, an eight-inch lighthouse doorstop recently was purchased at an auction in the United States for $5,750(£3,750). The item was sold at an event in Pennsylvania and attracted a higher price than was anticipated.
