Bidders may scrutinise Nazi Germany memorabilia for actual value

Anyone interested in antique paintings supposedly created by Adolf Hitler - or other memorabilia from the era - may be interested in an expert's opinion on such items.

Those with an interest in history who are looking to sell antique items might want to take valuations about Nazi Germany relics with a pinch of salt.

A piece by Guy Walters, an author of history, wrote a piece for the Telegraph in which he discussed the high prices paid for such items and whether they reflect their actual value.

He noted that Mullock's Auction House in Shropshire is renowned for selling items that date back to dictator Adolf Hitler's reign, but the authenticity of some collectibles can be questioned.

For instance, he disputed whether a collar tab ostensibly belonging to the SS was worth the selling price of £7,400.

"This particular lot raised the eyebrows of quite a few militarily experts and historians," he said.

Currently, the same auctioneers are putting a holocaust medical instrument - which the group suggests may have been obtained by a Russian soldier on liberation - up for grabs for a sum of between £600 and £800.
