What Are Sports Cards?

The term sport card is used to describe a trading card with a sports-related subject. Sports cards are considered to be among the earliest forms of sports memorabilia collectibles.  The most popular sports cards portray sports players and icons of various kinds of sports such as soccer, American football, baseball, basketball, car racing and others.

What Sports Cards Are Worth the Most Money?

The market of sport cards is highly speculative and prices are dictated by supply and demand. Cards can be popular and sought after by collectors for various reasons such as rarity or sudden fame of the player. Below we listed the type of cards that are usually more popular and sought after than others:

- Cards of important and popular players and sports icons

- Rookie cards of famous players

- Cards from special brands such as Fleer or Garbage Pail Kids

- Rare cards from limited editions

- Old and popular cards

- Cards in the best condition possible

How to Value Sports Cards?

If you want to know what your sports cards are worth, the best idea is to get a professional appraisal from a Sports Memorabilia expert. You can appraise your sports cards online with one of Value My Stuff experienced experts, only within 24-24 h.

There are several factors the expert will look at while assessing the value of your sports card:

Condition. This is one of the most important things when it comes to determining the value, as the sports cards were usually printed on low quality paper. The corners of your card should be as straight as possible, and ideally undamaged. Edges should not be damaged or bent, because this may affect the value of the card. The surface of the card should be nice and even as well as the print (especially in the older examples) should be centred.

The popularity of the player. Cards portraying popular players, for example from NBA’s Hall of Fame are usually worth more than the ones from less known teams.

Rookie cards. Check for the date of issuing the card. If the card comes from the players rookie year, it is going to be quite valuable, especially if the player is or was successful. Sometimes the second-year or even lder cards can be worth quite a lot of money, especially the ones that comes from players break-through years.

Autographs. Is your card signed or have any other features? If there is an autograph or a jersey patch it will increase the value of your card.
