Wooden car has antiques valuation of up to £30k

An antiques valuation of up to £30,000 has been placed on a wooden car set to go up for auction.

A wooden car has been given an antiques valuation of between £20,000 and £30,000.

The motor - which is set to go up for auction at Historics at Brooklands on December 4th - has a conventional steel chassis and a six-cylinder 1,670cc engine.

Starting out life as a saloon car, the unique 1932 Talbot 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer was constructed from planks of Honduran mahogany and contains a removable wooden hatch.

The addition was put in to protect the Central American material when there were no rear passengers travelling in the vehicle.

What's more, there are two rectangular aeroscreens, a tonneau and nine-inch headlamps, as well as black leather interior.

At the same sale, a car used by former prime minister Sir Winston Churchill during his election campaigns from 1944 and 1949 will also be sold by the auctioneers.

The motor has an antiques valuation of between £200,000 and £250,000.
