Spitting Image puppets given £3k antiques valuation

Puppets of Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet are up for grabs.

The puppet of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher and her husband Denis from the satirical ITV show Spitting Image have been given an antiques valuation of £3,000.

Other items set to go under the hammer include Michael Heseltine in World War Two German attire and Norman Tebbit dressed in a suggestive leather ensemble, which are expected to raise around £800.

Spitting Image ran from 1984 to 1996 and after the show ended the puppets were sold off by Roger Law, who along with Peter Fluck created the hit show for ITV.

Stephen Maycock, from auctioneers Bonhams, said: "Some are quite accurate but others are quite cruel. They were hard to operate because actors had their arms in the puppets' arms and others worked the eyes and mouth."

An antiques valuation of £200,000 has been given to an original movie poster from the 1933 picture The Invisible Man, which is set to be sold at a Profiles in History auction in Hollywood.
