A rare pink diamond has been handed an antiques valuation of £24 million, it has been revealed.

The item - set to go under the hammer at Sotheby's in Geneva next month - is set into a ring and was once owned by US jeweler to the stars Harry Winston.

David Bennett, chairman of the international jewelry department at the auctioneers, said: "It is one of the most desirable diamonds ever to come to auction and its beauty has haunted me since the very first time I set eyes on it some years ago."

The piece has an antiques valuation of between $27 million and $38 million dollars and will be sold on November 16th.

This comes after a Harry Winston platinum and diamond pendant necklace was given a price guide of between $1 million and $1.5 million last month before going under the hammer.
