Meet St George Valuations

Drexel Furniture

After graduating from Newcastle University, Rohan began his art world career at Bonham’s before moving to Sotheby’s and eventually becoming the Business Developer for Museums, Foundations and Corporate Art Services (Europe and Asia). These formative years fuelled his passion for the art world and educated him in every aspect of the auction and art advisory business. After a spell as a private art dealer Rohan joined St George Valuations at the beginning of 2014 to spearhead the company's development in the UK and Europe.

What is St George Valuations?

St George Valuations specialise in the inventory and valuation of large or important collections, for private, corporate and institutional clients. We have access to over sixty expert consultants who cover all categories of Fine and Decorative Art, Antiques, Jewellery and Collectibles. Valuations are provided for the purposes of insurance, auction, family division and inheritance and tax services including probate.

Who do you work with?

Our clients vary, from private clients looking for a probate settlement, to a museum or gallery requiring a valuation for audit. We also work with a number of law firms and insurance companies working on behalf of private clients, valuing single items to whole collections, with values ranging from £10 to £10,000,000. Our versatility means that we can tailor each project to our client’s exact requirements making our service bespoke and unlike any other.

Why use St Georges:

Our experts have all worked for leading auction houses and have an unparalleled knowledge of the market. Considering the expertise and personalised service that we offer, St George Valuations is competitively priced. Furthermore, as we are not an auction house or dealership, all our reports are unbiased, honest and realistic, something that our clients really appreciate. Valuations are conducted with the utmost confidentiality and we never pressure clients to sell their collections.

St George Valuation’s services don’t stop after the valuation is completed as we can arrange to place collections for sale in auctions or private sales on our client’s behalf. We also advise on dispersal and house clearances, shipping, storage and restoration, making the entire process as easy as possible for our clients.

What have you found recently?

I recently visited a client’s one bedroom flat in Twickenham to have a look at items left to him by his sister. The client sadly needed to sell them to pay for her funeral. Once there I discovered an impressive collection of Fine Jewellery and Asian Art that the client had no idea was valuable. Within two days we had arranged for the items to be collected by one of our recommended London auctioneers where it was fully catalogued and placed in sales. The collection sold for over £120,000, which greatly assisted the client and his family. An exciting part of my job is discovering collections like this in unexpected places.
