An LS Lowry painting has been given an antiques valuation of between £250,000 and £350,000.

The item - of a street in Northleach - is set to go under the hammer on November 11th at Christie's on King Street, London.

The 1947 piece has been both signed and dated by the painter and it depicts no leaves on the trees, leading the auctioneers to point out that there is no ambiguity as to when Lowry may have created it.

Christie's added: "This is an intriguing picture in that, like all the best Lowrys, it shouts across the room that only LS Lowry could have painted it."

What's more, the "immaculate frontage" suggests the whole street may have avoided bomb damage and also implies this to be the case for the town, according to the auctioneers.

Another painting set to go under the hammer at Christie's later this month is an Andy Warhol piece, which has an antiques valuation of between $30 million (£19 million) and $50 million.
