John Lennon's first car has antiques valuation of up to €170k

The Beatles star's motor is set to go under the hammer, it has been revealed.

The first car purchased by Beatles star John Lennon has been given an antiques valuation of between €120,000 (£99,821) and €170,000.

According to the Press Association, the motor - which was purchased by the Let It Be crooner after he passed his test - is set to go under the hammer next month.

He bought the automobile - a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe - in 1965, after an array of dealers had approached the singer, who was married to Yoko Ono, and offered him a "gleaming smorgasbord" of vehicles to purchase when they found out he had passed his test, Lennon's biographer Philip Norman stated.

This comes after an all-white suit worn by the musician on the front cover of the Liverpudlian band's Abbey Road album was sold for $46,000 (£29,552) at auction, falling short of its antiques valuation of $120,000.

It was purchased by a Connecticut bidder who wanted to remain anonymous.
