Ghostbusters replica car 'fails to achieve antique price guide'

The vehicle was given an antique valuation of between £60,000 and £70,000.

A replica of the Ghostbusters car from the classic movie failed to achieve its antique price guide of between £60,000 and £70,000 when it went under the hammer at Historics at Brooklands in Weybridge.

The only one of its type in Europe, the 1959 converted ambulance was to be scrapped a few years ago following a 20-year career as a fete car in the US, Get Surrey reports

In spite of the fact that auctioneers said it could well bring in over £25,000 annually if rented out as a novelty vehicle, organizers noted that bidding fell "agonizingly short" of the reserve.

However, other automobiles fared better, with almost half of the 72 on the auction block going to new homes and making just under £1 million in the process.

The next Historic at Brooklands sale is to be held on December 4th, followed by an International Motorsport Auction on December 11th and 12th.
