Canadian hockey jersey could fetch $100k

A hockey jersey belonging to former Boston Bruins player Bobby Orr, worn during the 1966-67 season, has been valued and is expected to fetch a minimum of $100,000 (£65,785) at auction. The successful bidder will find their purchase comes complete with darned holes and stick marks, the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

"Orr, a native of Parry Sound, [Ontario], is remembered as one of the [National Hockey League's] greatest and most creative defense men," it observed. Owner of the top - 58-year-old John Rows of Kingston in Ontario,who admitted he had only taken it out of its box three times in nearly 40 years - is holding a live auction on April 23rd to find it a new home, prompted by a visit to the Antiques Roadshowwebsite.

It comes after a set of antique silver jewellery and shoes belonging to Wallis Simpson - wife to Edward VIII - were put under the hammer, with forecasts suggesting they would go for £250,000,the Daily Mail reported.
