Objects once owned by the author John Steinbeck have been sold, which may have caught the attention of anyone seeking book valuations.
Those looking for book valuations might be interested to learn that a number of items belonging to American author John Steinbeck have been sold at auction.
From letters and manuscripts to photographs and furniture, the objects accumulated during his lifetime accrued a total of $73,950 (£49,300) at the Bloomsbury Auction in New York, the Associated Press reports.
A briefcase that belonged to a friend of the writer - who was the inspiration for a fictional biologist in Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday - sold for $18,000, despite an estimate of between $9,000 and $12,000.
Steinbeck is perhaps most famous for writing the Grapes of Wrath, which has found its place among the canon of acclaimed American novels.
According to news provider, Jay Parini, a novelist and biographer, previously stated: "These manuscripts are fascinating as they offer a look inside the creative imagination of a major writer."
Among Steinbeck's other major works are Of Mice and Men and East of Eden.
