Sports Memorabilia

Former England international Nobby Stiles has been given an antique price guide of between £150,000 and £200,000 for his World Cup winner's medal.

The ex-Manchester United defender is selling the piece - which he won following England's 4-1 win over West Germany in the 1966 tournament - along with other items from his football career at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh on October 27th to raise money for his family.

Stiles, who suffered a stroke earlier this year, is also putting a 1966 World Cup cap up for sale, as well as his 1968 European Cup winner's medal and a blue Manchester United shirt that he wore in the 1968 European Cup final against Benfica.

He said he always intended to leave the items to his children but questioned how to divide up such a collection fairly between his three sons.

"At this stage of my life I would rather have some control over the distribution of my memorabilia and know that my family will benefit," he added.
