Those looking for accurate antique appraisals might be keen to note that an original copy of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice has sold for £139,250 at auction.
The 1813 novel - which originally cost 18 shillings, around 90 pence in today's money - went under the hammer at Sotheby's in London, the Daily Mail reports.
It tells the story of heroine Elizabeth Bennet - played by English actress and star of King Arthur Keira Knightley - falling for Mr Darcy.
Other first editions - sold by an anonymous 75-year-old collector - to go under the hammer at the sale included a version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, which fetched £181,250.
Peter Selley of the auctioneers said the pensioner had built up an "extraordinary library", adding: "The quality drew bids from around the world."
This comes after a World War I diary and sketchbook sold for £9,600 at auction in September, the BBC reported.
