An Andy Warhol painting has had an antiques valuation of between $30 million (£19 million) and $50 million placed on it.

The item - created in 1962 - is entitled Big Campbell's Soup Can with Can Opener (Vegetable) and depicts a tin of the food complete with the kitchen utensil.

The product is set to go under the hammer at a Christie's auction next month (November 10th).

An expert at the auctioneers said the artwork was "incredibly important" and "very iconic", adding: "When he painted the soup can picture ... it changed the course of art history. No one had seen anyone do anything like this."

What's more, the large estimate on the picture is reportedly due to there being only 11 large-scale soup can paintings around and eight of those are held in museums.

Another painting given a price guide in the millions recently was George Stubbs's Brood Mares and Foal effort, which had an antiques valuation of between £10 million and £15 million place on it.
