A book believed to be the most expensive in the world is set to go under the hammer later today (December 7th) with an antiques valuation of between £4 million and £6 million.

John James Audubon's Birds of America is going on sale at Sotheby's in London.

According to David Goldthorpe, director of books and manuscripts at the auctioneers, it is one of the most important illustrated tomes to have ever been created, NTDTV reports.

He added: "It's one of biggest books ever produced and one of the most spectacular."

What's more, Shakespeare's First Folio, which has an antiques valuation of up to £1.5 million, is also set to be sold at the auction.

This comes after a Hebrew book managed to fetch $33,000 (£20,881) at the DCU Center in the US in September but the price was a surprise to William Ralph, who catalogued all of the documents, letters and books, the Telegram reported.
