Each Rolex timepiece is equipped with small, very precise movements manufactured by a Swiss watchmaking company in Bienne. In 1910, a Rolex watch was the first wristwatch in the world to receive the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision. The winding crown seals the case while enabling one to adjust the key functions of the watch, such as time and date.

Several other iconic Rolex models include the Perpetual watch of 1936, the Datejust of 1945 and the Daytona in 1963.A new world record was set when Rolex Daytona ‘Lesson One’, a collection of 50 examples of the world’s most celebrated chronograph wristwatch, sold for $13, 248,167 (approximately 20 million pounds) at a Christie's auction in Geneva, May 2013. This quadrupled the pre-sale estimate.
