The former - which was used to note down life in the trenches - contains reflections on various incidents seen by Lieutenant Kenneth Edwin Wootton, the BBC reports.
He was part of the Tank Corps on the western front and detailed both positive and negative moments about his time at war, but he died 35 years ago.
Charles Hanson of Hansons Auctioneers - where the items went under the hammer - said they explained the ups and downs of the time, as well as the spirit to survive.
Mr Hanson added: "It is graphic, it is real and it is right here."
This news comes after a book signed by Winston Churchill about his ancestor the Duke of Marlborough was given an antique valuation of £2,000, the Bath Chronicle reported.
