Style-conscious collectors on the lookout for an accurate art valuation might be interested in details of one upcoming bash to support the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.

As part of the fundraiser, a pink coat belonging to glamour icon Twiggy will be auctioned for the hospital's Clothes Throw showpiece, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Proceeds from the sale will be put towards improving the lives of the centre's young patients.

Twiggy is quoted in the publication as explaining: "I'm donating the actual coat that I wore in the Christmas Marks & Spencer advert for TV and I'll also include a signed photo for the winner."

She added that she loves the pink item and hopes it finds a good home, before describing the event as "a marvelous cause".

Elsewhere, fashionistas may have noted that a parka jacket worn by Leonard Nimoy in the 2009 Star Trek film was recently sold by Julien's Auctions for $8,960 (£5,980).
