A Soviet space capsule has been given an antiques valuation of around £6 million before it goes under the hammer.

The machine - which has been into space with a live dog and a life-size mannequin - is set to go up for auction on April 12th.

This is 50 years to the day after cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin went on his maiden space voyage in a twin replica of the Soviet capsule.

Last month, it was announced a number of NASA items are set to go up for auction, the Guardian reported.

What's more, these pieces include the headset used to speak to Buzz Aldrin when he was completing his moon walk, as well as a power cable used on the Apollo 15 lunar module.

And auctioneer Bobby Livingston pointed out everything in the sale, which consists of 500 lots, will be realistic.

He stated: "All the items have come straight from the astronauts themselves or from a small handful of private collectors."
