Sampson and Horne antique ceramics 'worth a look'

One event in London is set to unveil a range of antique ceramics.

An upcoming auction will give buyers the chance to get their hands on some antique ceramics. Among the items at the Sampson and Horne Collection are a series of porcelain Staffordshire figures, which have caught the attention of Judith Miller of the Daily Telegraph. She claimed next week's Bonhams sale in New Bond Street willshowcase some "superb examples" of the pieces.

Describing the items, Ms Miller observed: "The range of figuresis extensive. Human subjects range from poets to circus figures,children to farm labourers, and romantic lovers to royalty." The pieces first appeared in the late 18th century in north Staffordshire and were often made from lead-glazed earthenware,porcelain pearlware and creamware. An exotic water buffalo with a rider dating from 1760 - will be on sale for between £600 and £800, while Dick Turpin on a horseis estimated to go for between £700 and £1,000.
