Mikhail Baryshnikov’s Painting Appraised at $300,000-500,000

On April 12th, Sotheby's will hold an auction of Russian Paintings in New York. The centerpiece for the sale is a donated painting of Petr Tetrovich Vereshchagin of a View of St. Petersburg given by Mikhail Baryshnikov. All proceeds from this painting will go to the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City.

In New York at Sotheby’s on April 12th, there will be an auction of Russian Art. The feature lot is a painting Mikhail Baryshnikov donated to the Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) for the purpose of auction. All proceeds of the sale will go to the Center and contribute to it’s work. The painting by Petr Petrovich Vereshchagin, View of St. Petersburg, is estimated at $300,000-500,000.

The BAC is an arts center devoted to the creative process and a performance space for many artists across the world. Located in Manhattan, BAC has four studios, a small studio theatre, and has acquired the renovated Jerome Robbins Theatre. With the profit of the sale, the center is hoping to increase their work and continue their presentations of contemporary, innovative work of affordable prices, as well as artist-centered activity fostering the creative expression.
