Antique valuation seekers may be interested to note that a toilet owned by John Lennon has fetched nearly ten times its expected amount.
A toilet previously owned by Beatles legend John Lennon has reached more than its expected £1,000 antique valuation by selling for £9,500.
The lucky recipient of the porcelain item - which was used by the music star at his home in Tittenhurst Park, Berkshire between 1969 and 1972 - was an overseas bidder.
Stephen Bailey, organiser of the auction - which was at the 33rd annual Beatles Convention in Liverpool - said it was "unbelievable".
The Fab Four expert added: "We had bids coming in from all over the place but it went to a private overseas buyer."
Other memorabilia from the Liverpudlian band - which recorded songs such as Hello Goodbye and Hey Jude - that may have interested auction valuation seekers also went under the hammer, including autographs and rare recordings.
This news comes after a toilet owned by author J.D Salinger was recently put up for auction with an asking price of $1 million (£641,000).
