An antiques valuation of between $30,000 and $40,000 has been placed on a Johnny Cash guitar set to go under the hammer.

Musical Instruments

A guitar used by Johnny Cash that became his designated tour bus instrument has been given an antiques valuation of between $30,000 (£19,000) and $40,000.

The item - played by the country star on The Johnny Cash Show - is set to go under the hammer at Julien's Auctions in California on December 5th.

Two other guitars used by the musician will be sold at the auction, including a vintage 1951 Martin model and a Martin used by Cash in the 1980s, both with an antiques valuation of between $20,000 and $30,000.

What's more, the latter instrument appeared on the cover of live album Survivors and has been inscribed with the first four lines of the singer's track I Walk The Line.

In addition, a film about the Cash's life was made earlier this decade entitled Walk the Line, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the main star and Reese Witherspoon as his wife June Carter Cash.
