An antiques valuation of between €500 and €800 has been placed on the autographs.

Autographs

Autographs of John Lennon and Yoko Ono from more than 40 years ago are set to go under the hammer, it has been revealed.

They have been given an antiques valuation of between €500 (£426) and €800 before being sold at Sheppard's Irish Auction House.

According to auctioneer Michael Sheppard, speaking to the Irish Times, the signatures were acquired by a Mayo man - who was a teenager at the time - when the celebrity couple were staying at a hotel in Mulranny in 1968.

He described Lennon - who had a number of hits with the Beatles - and Ono as being "sweet as pie" to him, stating he had "psyched himself up" before asking for the pair's autograph.

This comes after one of Lennon's suits - which he wore on the cover of the Liverpudlian group's Abbey Road album - was auctioned for $46,000 (£28,390), despite having an antiques valuation of $120,000.
