Hitler's cutlery handed antique price guide of £7k

An antique price guide of £7,000 has been placed on cutlery previously owned by Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun.

Silverware

Cutlery that was previously owned by Adolf Hitler and his mistress Eva Braun is set to go under the hammer with an antique price guide of £7,000.

Bidders will fork out for the items - which are being sold by auctioneer Richard Westwood-Brooks, of Ludlow, Shropshire - later this month.

The products include a silver fish knife - which has Hitler's name on - and a silver knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon which are engraved with Braun's initials.

The items were taken by a couple - Willi and Gretl Mitlstrasser - who managed the former Nazi leader's Berghof home so that allied forces would not get hold of them.

Mr Westwood-Brooks said the pair took the cutlery as the Americans made their way across Germany towards the end of the Second World War.

During the final days of the battle in 1945 Hitler and Braun committed suicide to avoid being captured.
