good-quality-antique-paintings-still-desirable

An industry expert has said top quality antiques are still in demand.

Antique paintings, furniture and other older items that are in good condition are still in demand, it has been claimed, in spite of the fact that the recession had a negative impact on the industry. Spokesman for The British Antique Dealers' Association Mark Dodgson made this observation in the wake of the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' UK Arts & Antiquessurvey.

The study revealed that prices in the market are rising because of a lack of supply, with antique silver and jewellery holding strong positions."There is definitely more interest in purchasing good quality antiques at the moment," Mr Dodgson remarked, adding that people appear to be keen to invest a lot of money in this area because they are "tangible, physical [assets], unlike a share or a bond".

He went on to note that the best products are still very much in demand, with top amounts being paid.
