An antiques valuation of £10,000 has been placed on medals won by a former Manchester City footballer.

The items - which are set to fetch more than twice the amount City paid for Eric Brook - were awarded to him for winning the 1934 FA Cup and 1937 Football League title, the Manchester Evening News reports.

But more than 80 years ago City forked out just £4,000 for the striker, who netted 178 times in 494 matches between the 1920s and 1930s.

His FA Cup winners medal attracts the biggest antiques valuation of between £5,000 and £7,000 and the piece is set to go under the hammer at Bonhams in Chester on February 2nd.

This comes after former England international defender Nobby Stiles put a number of his football medals up for auction last year - and the items were purchased by his ex-club, City's local rivals Manchester United.
