An antiques valuation of more than £200,000 has been placed on 12,000 vinyl Elvis Presley records set to go under the hammer.

The mint condition items from all over the world will go up for auction at Bamfords in Derby after owner Steve Lacey decided to sell them and give the money to his three children.

He began collecting them when he was 11 years old and heard the King of Rock'n'Roll had died.

Mr Lacey said he got a paper round in order to save up and then spent everything on his collection, later working in a chip shop for five nights a week to conserve cash for more.

He added: "Then I had to decide whether I wanted a mortgage or more Elvis records. I kept buying records."

This news comes after a basketball signed by musical legend Michael Jackson and basketball player Michael Jordan sold for more than £150,000 earlier this month.
