Over the year so far, the European Decorative Arts and Oriental Rugs sales have had a great interest and good results. Christie's has achieved a total of over $7.5 million in sales to date.
Over the centuries Christie’s has seen a real interest in European Decorative arts and their Decorative and Oriental Carpets sales have showed great strength through the year so far. The grand total reached $7,612,875/£4,670,475 after the latest sale. The highlight of the year has been a George III Ormolu-Mounted Pollard Oak, Indian rosewood, amaranth and marquetry commode by Chippendale, Haig & Co. circa 1775. The piece achieved $578,500/£354,908.
Other top sales included A Trumbauer Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line which acquired a total price of $1,803,875/£1,106,672. The top sale was an Italian Giltwood Side Table, circa 1775, which came to the grand total of $116,500/£71,472.
