Two Bugatti motors have sold at auction for a combined price of more than £1 million, those looking for accurate antique appraisals might like to note.

The motors - both from the 1930s - used to belong to Lord Reglan, but he died aged 82 in January last year.

A 1933 Bugatti Type 51 went under the hammer for around £800,000 and a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 was sold for more than £280,000 at the Bonhams auction on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

This comes after the first ever car belonging to Beatles legend John Lennon was given a pre-sale estimate of €120,000 (£101,073), the Press Association reported.

In addition to this, the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe was purchased by the Let it Be and Hard Day's Night crooner after he passed his driving test in 1965.

His biographer Philip Norman pointed out he was offered an array of motors to buy when he completed the examination.
