Antique appraisals seekers keen to see Reggie Kray artwork sell at auction?

The artwork went under the hammer in Lewes, east Sussex.

Pre-Columbian Art

Those seeking accurate antique appraisals might be keen to note artwork produced by gangland boss Reggie Kray has gone under the hammer.

One of the items, a signed painting of a boxer, by Kray - who was sentenced to life imprisonment along with his brother Ronnie - fetched £800 at the Gorringes auctioneers sale in Lewes, east Sussex, the East London Advertiser reports.

The items were in the possession of Carol-Ann Kelly, of north-west London, who met Reggie when visiting Parkhurst prison to see her then husband.

She helped the former gang member, who was involved in organised crime in London's east end throughout the 1950s and 1960s with his brother Ronnie, become a born-again Christian.

Ms Kelly stated she had the paintings - which also included one of Reggie as a cowboy - for 25 years, adding: "I'm happy with how much they fetched. I just hope that the person who has bought the items looks after them."
