Antique appraisals news: MG discovered in jungle fetches £20k

It was found more than 40 years ago.

Those looking for accurate antique appraisals might like to note an MG classic car found in the jungle has been auctioned for £20,000.

When it was discovered by engineer Michael Standen in Borneo more than 40 years ago, the motor was just a rusty shell with snakes living in it.

But he rescued the 1954 MG TF1500 and has sold it to a beef farmer in Cambridgeshire.

Mr Standen said he is unaware how the automobile ended up in the jungle and noted it seemed like a waste of British motoring history.

He added: "A door was missing, trees were growing through the center of the chassis and snakes and all sorts of things had made their home in it."

This news comes after Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash announced he is set to auction one of his classic vehicles - a 1966 Corvette Stingray, which he has described as a "monster of a car", Reuters reports.
