Titanic Piece Appraised at $4,000

Heritage will be offering items from the Titanic wreck in their next sale of American and political historical objects.

Maritime & Nautical

On May 21st, Heritage Auctions in Dallas Texas will be holding their Americana & Political Memorabilia Sale. At least 10% of the sale will be donated to the Firefighter’s Burn Centre in Dallas. In the sale is “an actual 7 x 4 inch section from the hull of the doomed ship R.M.S. Titanic, modern history’s most famous shipwreck – consigned by famous author, Hollywood consultant and deep sea archaeologist Charles Pellegrino.”

The actual wreck of the Titanic is protected by UNESCO and therefore makes it very difficult to acquire items for the private market. This piece was not found on the intact wreck but instead some distance away on the ocean floor. It is believed to have been cracked from the hull of the ship during impact and broke off when the ship was torn in two.

Along with this piece, Pellegrino is also adding in items that have been fossilized by the water. Things such as rope, railings from the #8 Lifeboat, and other significant finds.
