Antique valuations could come in the form of valuable book editions.
Bloomsbury Auctions is holding an auction today (July 8th) in London which will see a rare edition of the Lord of the Rings go under the hammer.
The first deluxe version - featuring J R R Tolkien's signature on each title page - is up for grabs with a price estimate of between £3,000 and £4,000, as described by Paul Fraser Collectibles.
The item - which may inspire those on the lookout for accurate antique valuations - is being sold as part of a range of pieces created by illustrator Pauline Baynes.
She produced maps, posters and book covers for the popular series, and Tolkien said that the results "reduced my text to a commentary on her drawings".
Baynes also created artwork for CS Lewis's Narnia series - another favourite among young readers.
Recently, Sotheby's in New York oversaw the sale of an unpublished Mark Twain manuscript for $242,500 (£163,000).
