Love letters written by Oscar Wilde have been given an antique price guide of £10,000 before they go under the hammer.

The notes were penned to magazine editor Alsager Richard Vian, who was invited to meet up by the Irish writer.

Reports have suggested that the notes appear that Wilde is struggling with his homosexuality and signed off one of the pieces: "Till Thursday night. This is all wrong, isn't it. Truly yours, Oscar Wilde".

Other musings include the poet discussing writing a journalism article with Mr Vian and suggesting that they meet in the latter's room as the clubs are "difficult to talk in".

The sale is set to be carried out by Fine Art Auctioneers Bamfords of Derby on September 24th.

This news comes after an envelope was given an antique price guide of £20,000, much more than the four pence it cost to send in 1840, the Edinburgh Evening News reported.
