A white rhinestone glove belonging to the late pop star Michael Jackson is going under the hammer in Los Angeles.

It is expected to fetch between $14,000 and $16,000 (£9,400 and£10,700) at the Bonhams & Butterfields sale. The news may inspire people to search for their own antique collectibles to be sold at auction.

In addition, music fans may already be aware that the only known recording of a 1966 Beatles press conference - in which John Lennon is questioned for suggesting the band was bigger than Jesus - is expected to make $20,000 to $25,000. Margaret Barrett, director of entertainment memorabilia at the auction house, is quoted by Reuters as saying: "We do know what they said that day. We have just never heard it."

She added that the seller tried to flog them in 1966, "but no one thought they were important". In the UK, a painting by Sir William Or pen was valued at£250,000, much to the surprise of the owner who appeared on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow.
