A version of Mein Kampf signed by author Adolf Hitler has attracted an antiques valuation of between NZ$1,000 (£490) and NZ$2,000.

It has been outdone by a handwritten note by author Katherine Mansfield, which is expected to sell for around NZ$ 100,000.

The pieces are to go under the hammer in New Zealand on November 24th after being amassed by book collector Des Schollum.

He told the New Zealand Herald that he gets a buzz when holding an item that has been signed by a major historical character, adding: "It's a direct link with history".

What's more, he is also auctioning pieces including an autograph featuring all four Beatles.

Earlier this year, a toilet once belonging to the former Liverpudlian band's singer John Lennon went under the hammer - at the 33rd annual Beatles Convention in Liverpool - to the tune of £9,500 despite having an antiques valuation of just £1,000.
