News that a cymbal belonging to Lynyrd Skynyrd is being put up for grabs might have caught the attention of music fans seeking antique valuations.

The US group is currently on tour and had to ship the item overnight from Canada in order to reach the auction's organizers, the Andalusia Star-News reports.

The Andalusia Ballet's 28th anniversary season opening night auction and dinner will feature the piece of musical history, which is signed by members of the band, who are perhaps most famous for the song Sweet Home Alabama.

Those who attend the Andalusia Country Club spectacle will also get stuck in to a dinner buffet as well as the fundraising festivities.

Elsewhere, music fans may have noted a recent article published by Paul Fraser Collectibles which described how items related to The Beatles' John Lennon and Paul McCartney are increasing in popularity.

It noted that autograph signed by the former that was worth £695 in 2000 is now valued at £5,950.
