A locket containing the hair of Admiral Lord Nelson and what is believed to be the hair of Lady Emma Hamilton has attracted an antiques valuation of up to £5,000.

According to the BBC, the 18th century gold pendant was discovered by two Australians cleaning a house they had recently inherited in Portsmouth.

The piece is set to go under the hammer in Salisbury and auctioneer Jonathan Edwards stated: "It's beautifully made and very significant."

What's more, he pointed out because of the early date it could have been a presentation gift to an admirer, adding it should really be going to a museum.

It has the date August 1798 on it, the year of Nelson's Battle of the Nile.

This comes after it was revealed earlier this month that photos of Hitler, which were sold at JP Humbert Auctioneers in Towcester, Northampton shire, had gone under the hammer for around £30,000.
