The latest Christie's sale was held in New York over two days. The final price tag was close to $557 million.
After a two day sale in New York of Impressionist, Modern, Post-War, and Contemporary Art, Christie’s had a total of almost $557 million (£338.3 million) with about %87 of the lots were sold. One of the biggest winners in this sale was of course the increasingly popular Andy Warhol. With 25 works in the sale, the Self Portrait from 1963-64 sold for $38.4 million (£23.5 million). As well as another Self Portrait going for $27.5 million (£16.7 million).
Francis Bacon was also a star lot with his Three Studies for the 1974 Self-Portrait going for $25.2 million (£15.4 million). There were also records set for a few artists such as Cindy Sherman. Her piece, Untitled from 1981 went for an artist record of almost $4 million (£2.4 million).
