Antique appraisals news: Footballer to auction World Cup items for earthquake fund?

Winston Reid has said he wants to auction some of his possessions to help the Christchurch earthquake appeal.

Sports Memorabilia

West Ham United's New Zealand defender Winston Reid could be set to put some of his treasured items from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa up for auction to raise money for his country's earthquake appeal.

New Zealand was left stunned last week after Christchurch was hit by a quake with a 6.3 magnitude and Reid - who cost the Hammers £4 million shortly after last summer's tournament - said he wants to help out, antique appraisals seekers might be pleased to hear.

He added: "I'll be auctioning jerseys, boots and some other signed items. There might be some of my things from the World Cup too."

Reid scored his first goal for the London club against Burnley last week and he was named on the bench for his side's 3-1 win over Liverpool yesterday (February 27th).

What's more, he scored a last gasp equaliser for his nation against Slovakia in the World Cup last year.
