Antique appraisal seekers could be inspired by Sotheby's jewels

Those seeking accurate antique appraisals may be inspired by news that a platinum and diamond pendant Harry Winston necklace is set to go under the hammer with an estimate of between $1 million (£0.97 million) and $1.5 million.

The piece, which has a pear-shaped diamond pendant, is one of many similar products set to kick off the autumn international auction season when they are sold at Sotheby's in New York on Tuesday September 28th.

Other items from the same collection include a Fancy Intense yellow diamond ring, which has an estimate of between $400,000 and $600,000.

Antique appraisal seekers may also be keen to note that there is a $100,000 to $150,000-valuation on a 1951 Harry Winston platinum and diamond necklace, which has around 50 carats of round and baguette diamonds.

This news comes after a diamond ring was set to go under the hammer at the end of last month at Gerrard's auction room in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, with an estimated valuation of between £12,000 and £14,000.
