The Auction market for Lighting
Specialty items from studios such as Tiffany's enjoy a large success at auction. Henry Africa’s collection of Tiffany lamps that were used to decorate his San Francisco bar were sold at Christie’s New York for $826,750 in June 2012. Sales dedicated to Tiffany confirm the popularity of the studios, such as Sotheby’s Important Tiffany sale, which achieved a total of $4,597,875. The artistic trend of Art Nouveau is also a popular collecting category, with the sale of Raoul-Francois Larche’s Loie Fuller Table Lamp for $18,750 at Sotheby’s Paris in June 2013. In April 2013, Judaica lighting saw success as a Polish Brass Yahrzeith Lamp sold for $7,500 at Sotheby’s New York, showing that different styles from across the category are seeing an influx in the art market.
