#15 Strangest Collectible Sold at Auction
September 26, 2011
#15- Three Seater Czech Motorcycle - Sold for £36,150
Our first collectible on the top 10 list is a 1937 Böhmerland 603cc Langtouren sold at Bonham's in February 2010. While Czechoslovakia is known for its role in the development of the European motorcycle industry in the 20th century, the three seater design is one development that never really took off. Manufactured between 1925 and 1939, the only reason this three seater motorcycle went out of production was due to the onset of World War II in 1939. This example, manufactured in 1937, was one of the last of its kind ever made. Although it is not truly unique, there are very few surviving three seater motorcycles, and the design is certainly unique compared to the modern concept of the motorcycle. Collectors must have appreciated the unique design as the motorcycle sold for £36,150.
