Jimi Hendrix guitar has antiques valuation of £120k
November 18, 2010
A Jimi Hendrix guitar has had an antiques valuation of £120,000 placed on it.
The music legend's instrument - which he paid just £15 for when he first bought it - was used to create some of his most famous songs, according to music magazine NME.
The item is set to go under the hammer at Bonhams Of London on December 15th and could be a musical treat just in time for Christmas for one keen fan of the rocker, who tragically died aged 27.
What's more, the Voodoo Chile performer is said to have bought the guitar in the mid-60s, while it is not the first of his instruments to go up for auction.
In 2008, a 1965 Fender Stratocaster - which Hendrix set on fire during a gig at London Astoria in 1967 - fetched £280,000.
A Johnny Cash guitar - which was given an antiques valuation of between $30,000 (£19,000) and $40,000 - is set to go up for sale on December 5th in California.
