Dubai jewellery sale may inspire those seeking antique valuations
August 18, 2010
An auction in Dubai will see a large collection of private jewellery subject to high bids.
In news that may impress those looking for antique valuations, Christie's is set to host the event on October 27th.
It will feature 41 items - known as parures - which are signed by the likes of Chatila, Jahan and Mouawad.
Anyone who gets their hands on the jewellery will receive a certificate of authenticity.
The organisers have revealed that the pre-sale estimates range from £25,517 to £287,002, perhaps underlining the enduring appeal of such valuables.
One of the most eagerly anticipated items, according to those in charge of the showpiece, is a necklace with seven pear-shaped Colombian emeralds.
David Warren, head of Christie's jewellery division in the Middle East, stated: "This is a significant opportunity for anyone who is passionate about jewellery."
Elsewhere, those looking to sell unique collectibles might already be aware that a Batman No 1 comic strip recently sold for £34,835 in the US.
