£6.2k sports auction may inspire antique valuation seekers
July 30, 2010
News that one sports auction has raised £6,200 may please anyone seeking antique valuations this year.
Intel helped raise money for the NSPCC and staged a special sale in the process, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
The clubhouse at Broome Manor Golf Club in the town was the setting for the fundraiser.
Memorabilia signed by golf hero Gary Player could reach new owners, while match day tickets for this year's FA Community Shield between Manchester United and Chelsea were also up for grabs.
Organiser Ross Taylor is quoted by the publication as sating: "We are still going to be doing a few extra items such as bake sales and raffles and we haven't given up on our target to raise £10,000."
Elsewhere, a piece published by Paul Fraser Collectibles recently asserted that objects related to John Lennon and Paul McCartney will continue to achieve high prices at auction.
From autographs to song sheets, such items appear to be increasingly sought after.
