#13 Strangest Collectible Sold at Auction

#13 - X Rays of Einstein’s Skull - Sold for $38,000
In 2010 at Julian’s Auctions a truly unique lot went under the hammer. Two X-rays of Albert Einstein’s skull were up for a sale with a pre-sale estimate of $1,000-2,000. Unsurprisingly, the two X-rays of the genius’ skull smashed the estimates and sold for $38,000. The lot included both a frontal and profile view of the skull. The X-rays were taken in 1945 by Dr Gustav Bucky, a leader in radiograph technology at the time. Other interesting X-rays have appeared at auction such as those of Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy, but none as influential as the skull that housed the brain that developed the Theory of Relativity.
